Absence, Sickness & Emergency

Attendance at school is mandatory under the Education Act. Only illness or a few specified emergency situations allow non-attendance.

Absence from school should be accounted for by a note from parents, sent back to school when the child returns.

The students must sign in and out at the office if arriving or leaving during the day. Students must not take time off school for such things as hair appointments. Such absences are not allowed under the Regulations.

To gain leave for any other reason, e.g., attendance at funerals, students should present a letter from their parents to their Dean at the beginning of the school day.

At Lunch Time
Students are not permitted to leave the school grounds.

Emergency
A sick or injured student must report to the Health Clinic. Telephone or written notification of a known absence of two or more days would be appreciated. Whenever possible, medical and dental appointments should be made out of class time. Appointment cards must be presented to the Dean prior to 8.30am.

Only when a parent or caregiver has been contacted and can take care of the student, will the be released from the Health Clinic.

Please keep the Dean informed of:

  • change of address
  • changes of home or work telephone numbers

If parents need to contact students in an emergency during the school day, please telephone the main office.

During the school day all visitors must first report to the office and collect an identity tag as a safety service.

These regulations and guidelines are in place to ensure student safety.
