Seven groups of students have visited us this term.  The shortest visit was for an afternoon from Hamamatsu Kaisekan Junior High School.  The group had a Powhiri at the Marae; they narrated and illustrated a Japanese legend for our Year 9 Japanese class and their visit coincided with a fire drill!

Withdrawals and Refunds

All refunds of tuition fees to withdrawing students are at the discretion of the Board of Trustees. Application for refund must be made in writing setting out the special circumstances of the claim.

  • If you change your mind before the student comes to New Zealand all tuition fees will be refunded minus a NZ$500 administration fee.
  • If the student wishes to withdraw after arriving in New Zealand no refund will be made except in the case of:-
  1. return home because of the student’s serious illness.
  2. return home because of death or serious illness of a close member of the student’s family.

In these cases under New Zealand law, the College must retain amounts to cover costs already incurred.

Medical and Travel Insurance

International students must have appropriate and current medical and travel insurance while studying in New Zealand. Students must have or request us to obtain a comprehensive medical insurance policy compliant with the Code requirements. We arrange policies through Uni-care – their premier partnership policy covers students for medical, travel and loss of personal property. Most students are not entitled to publicly funded health services while in New Zealand unless they are:

  • A resident or citizen of Australia; or
  • A national of the United Kingdom in New Zealand; or
  • The holder of a temporary permit that is valid for two years or more.

If you do not belong to one of these special categories and you receive medical treatment during your visit, you will be liable for the full costs of that treatment. Full details on entitlements to publicly-funded health services are available through the Ministry of Health, website: http://www.moh.govt.nz .
