Te Kura does Rutherford Proud 13/10/07

Te Kura Ngata Aerangamate Northern region Rugby Rep 13/10/07

Rutherford has been honoured by one of its students being selected to represent our region. Te Kura Ngata Aerangamate has shown outstanding abilities as a loose forward.

First Te Kura was selected for the Auckland School Girls Rugby team, which notched up a series of victories.

The Auckland School Girls coaches gave Te Kura the Vice Captaincy (although young she earnt her stripes on the field for her first year in ASSGR).

The Auckland School Girls Team came 2nd behind Manukau Counties in the competition. They won their last game against North Harbour.

More recently Te Kura has been selected for the Northern Region ASSGR Team (comprising reps from Manukau Counties, Auckland, North Habour, Northland and Bay of Plenty). Te Kura was one of four selected from her Auckland Team and the only one from West Auckland.

The Northern Region Team played against the Wellington Hurricanes ASSGR this Saturday gone in Wanganui (Cooks Garden). It was a great game with Northern region winning 24-17.

This is a huge achievement for ASSGR, the first time there has been an inter regional play off with the Wellington region (comprising Poverty Bay, Taranaki, Manawatu, Horowhenua and Wellington).

Te Kura also played in the Auckland Maori Womens Team against the Samoan Womens Team Manusina at the Waitemata Rugby Union Club. Auckland won 22-12.

Te Kura could also have travelled over with the team in November to Rarotonga but put the external exams first and will not go.
