Pasifica Year 13 S.T.E.A.M day at the University of Auckland

Fakaalofa lahi atu, on Tuesday 3 July, Maori and Pasifika students from the Year 13 cohorts of numerous high schools within New Zealand were presented the opportunity to attend the 2018 STEAM ahead Conference Day held at the University of Auckland. This event was for students who showed in interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, Architecture or the Medical field. Rutherford College Languages Week 2018

The annual Rutherford College Languages Week was held from 25 June through to 29 June this year. On Monday, our Kapa Haka group “Te Kotuku” kicked off the week with an amazing performance during senior assembly followed by the taste bud tingling Matariki burgers which were sold at lunchtime. On Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have a performance group from the Japanese drum group called “Haere Mai Taiko” during the junior assembly on Japan Day. Year 13 Physical Activity and Leisure and Rutherford Primary Coaching Project

The Year 13 Physical Activity and Leisure (13PAL) class has just finished a coaching unit with the Year 5 and 6 Rutherford Primary School students. The program met the needs of both rōpū with the Year 13 tauira learning the basics of Coaching and the Rutherford Primary tauira getting some input in a Tuakana- Tēina model through the Coaching Program. The coaching happened over 4 sessions where our tauira taught the younger students the basics of Turbo Touch.
