Wednesday, 7 November saw the annual Harbour Waitakere junior boys AFL tournament take place. AFL, or Aussie Rules/Australian Football  is a fast-paced game in which the players attempt to score as many points as possible by kicking the ball through one of three goals made up of four posts. Scoring through the middle goal is called a ‘goal’ and awards 6 points, resetting the game back to the center of the field, scoring through either of the side posts is called a ‘behind’ and awards 1 point, the ball is then kicked upfield by the conceding team from the post.…

Congratulations to Seth Tantingco who won Unitecs Play of the Season!

Seth was one of hundreds of players who was chosen to be a contender for Unitecs Play of the Week throughout the basketball season. Coming out top, Seths play made it to the Play of the Season! Voting was incredibly close but Seth was successful in being one of the two winners that has won a Glory League package valued at $8000 for Rutherford College. Calligraphy in German Year 10 German class

On Wednesday, 7 November we were lucky to welcome the National German Language Adviser Heike Papantin one more time to Rutherford College before her return to Germany after six years. She offered a very interesting German Calligraphy lesson to our Year 10 German language learners and a quick introduction to 9SC in tutor period. The students enjoyed learning about the old German script and described this activity as a very calming and mindful one.

Senior Prizegiving 2018

The 2018 Senior Prizegiving was held on Friday, 2 November at the Rutherford School Hall. At Rutherford we know that we get to choose our attitude and this is the most important thing we can do with our mind; to choose our attitude.
