On Tuesday, 19 March, Rutherford College hosted 6 schools to participate in the 2019 Ribbon Day Athletics. Gill and her team of volunteers had been eagerly preparing for this event since the beginning of the term. On the morning of the event, they started early setting up the marquees and stations for different activities.
The weather played its part and we felt blessed that it was overcast and not too hot. All the students from Turangawaewae enjoyed themselves and participated in various activities. Our girls relay team came fourth competing against some very talented athletes.
Our photos show Max pumping it up, the smile says it all. Joshua at full stride, bags and all, Teacher Aid Delwyn supporting in the background. Linda passes the baton to Jasmine. Lyriq sliding to pass the baton to Anna and Shalveen edging past a rival, look at him go.
Thanks to the various teams of volunteers as Special Olympics gives our students a chance to shine.
