Ki-o-Rahi Primary and Intermediate School Tournament

Over the past few years, Rutherford has made a name for itself with the West Auckland primary schools for its Ki-o-Rahi tournament, including winning the Sport New Zealand Initiative award in 2019. On Wednesday, 14 October, Rutherford hosted the primary schools to the Ki- o- Rahi tournament. The tournament consisted of teams from Tirimoana, Rutherford, Flanshaw, Peninsula and Freyberg Primary schools. Ki-o-Rahi, being a new sport to most of the primary school students, the Mahi-ā-Toi students facilitated Ki-o-Rahi coaching sessions…

Kotuku G.E.M.S (Going The Extra Mile) Girls Ambassadors Project

Green were second in the party vote on 11% closely followed by National on 7%. We also voted on the two referendums with both being given a yes vote. This was a good experience as it gave students an idea of how the New Zealand voting system works and how…

Rutherford College Concert Band

Our awesome Concert Band usually competes in the KBB Music Festival however because of COVID the festival was cancelled this year. The organisers still wanted each school to partake in the music-making process and suggested each school submit a video recording of this year's repertoire. Luckily for us, our flute tutor Alex Alford professionally records ensemble groups and choirs as a side gig so he was able to do this for our kids. We are very fortunate to have Hanna as a band director this year, this hasn't been an easy year for anyone but her positive attitude has kept…
