Senior Mixed Water Polo celebrates a phenomenal season

The senior mixed water polo team had a phenomenal season, showcasing great determination, team spirit, and sportsmanship throughout their games. The team comprised of players ranging from year 10 to year 13. They consistently displayed remarkable performances and this propelled the team to a series of impressive victories, placing them 3rd in their division. Their coach, Chayten Marais,has been instrumental in the team's success. He has instilled a sense of discipline, structure, and confidence in the team, which has helped them deliver excellent results. Auckland Wrestling Champs

Rutherford College was again the top school at the 2023 Auckland Wrestling Championship taking away 9 medals. Gold medalists were Hezekiah Letele, Imran Ahmadi and Thereza Su'a. Dominic Hurley Lawler, Jayden Cox, James Munro, Logun Waters, Emily Naumoto and Alex Sandy all performed well against some tough opposition and are constantly improving. Orienteering Sprint Championships

On Sunday 26th March, five determined Rutherford students attended the Orienteering Sprint Finals Championships, hosted at Long Bay College and AUT Akoranga Campus. Roma Bowers-Fleming, Natalie Hy, Katrina Koci, Connor McKechnie and Tasha Miller qualified to represent our school and the Western Zone for this hotly contested event based on their results over the course of five events held in Term 1. In the morning session, Tasha and Connor were placed in the middle of their draws, standing them in good stead for the afternoon event. Student volunteers

Rutherford College is generally known for being a school that maintains a commitment to giving back to its surrounding community. Students are certainly a predominant source of volunteers for our local Schools. The connections and relationships being built between our local primary and intermediate school through our student volunteers continues to strengthen trust and social cohesion. Mana Connection for (MC4) Pasifika Youth Leadership

MC4 is a leadership programme aimed towards Pacifica Youth, led by Jeremiah Tauti, and on Wednesday the 22nd of March, a group of Pacifica students spent the day at the Te Pai centre with many others from various West Auckland schools and together we kicked off the first session of MC4 for the year. Principal’s Panui – 24 March 2023

Kia ora te whanau o te Kotuku I will be on sabbatical leave from today March 24th and will return to school in week 9 of term 2. Every 5 years Principals get the opportunity to have a sabbatical. Polyfest 2023

The African Fusion Group and Indian Dance Group - Polyfest 2023. Polyfest made a comeback back after last year's Covid19 restrictions that had occurred where no food stalls were operating and no audience to cheer on the performances, creating new bonds and most importantly memories to treasure. This year Rutherford’s African and Indian group had a chance to enjoy themselves. Not only did they watch all of the other performances from different schools, but students had the opportunity to look around and indulge in different cultures' food. Athletics Day 2023

After inclement weather cancelled the afternoon events of Athletics Day on February 24th, it was great to get out in the sunshine on the afternoon of Wednesday, 15th March to wrap up the remaining age-group field events and track finals, as well as ignite some healthy spirit and light-hearted competition among the school houses. The afternoon started with a hotly contested 800m track event, followed by the age-group 100m finals which saw some very close races and finishes, and provided great entertainment for those students watching and supporting from the side lines.
