Kia ora te whanau o te Kotuku Throughout the journey, from a fledging kotuku through…
On Wednesday, 20 March we had 9 students represent Rutherford College in the Auckland Athletics Championships.
It was a long day for some of our students but that didn’t stop them having a fun day out.
First up for the day was Hannah Taylor with her intermediate girls Long Jump, she finished a great 4th just missing out on the bronze medal, she also competed in the high jump in the evening. We then had Sebasytan Jack racing in the 200 meter heats. He ran a superb race getting him into the finals. He also competed in the 100 meters but unfortunately missed out on the finals and long jump were he finished 6th. Both Marissa Ogilvie and Kea Churchill competed in the Triple Jump and they both jumped great, with Kea finishing 3rd overall and getting her spot on the podium with her bronze medal.
In the intermediate boys Nikoia Vaihu was throwing strong and finished 3rd also making his way to the podium and a bronze medal! The Auckland Championships is always a tough competition but a great achievement for our athletes who qualify for this event, so a massive congratulations to those who competed including Jordan Jacobs in discus, Harrison Chapman in the 1500m, Ezra Feau in high jump and Nakita Ru in shot put.
