Eighteen students from Rutherford College and three students from our German group at Rutherford Primary School participated in the Auckland Goethe Society German language competition on Saturday the 6th of August.

In this annual competition, selected German students from all over Auckland were tested in their German speaking skills. Students were competing in year level groups. Heritage speakers and native speakers were tested in the Advantaged Speaker category.

The Auckland Goethe Society exams have been a mainstay in Auckland for over 50 years. This year Rutherford had the highest number of entries in the competition’s history.

We had very positive immediate feedback about our contestants. The final competition results will be announced at the Prizegiving in September.

Congratulations to all participants who gave up their Saturday morning for this competition and thank you to all parents and helpers who drove the kids to Auckland University.
