Auckland Secondary School Novice wrestling Competition
A large group of Rutherford students took the daunting step of entering a wrestling competition for the first time. The Auckland Secondary School Novice Wrestling tournament was again held at Rutherford College and after their nerves settled, our group of first-timers did themselves proud.
Impressive debutants included Bono Kacurov, Jurian Salt, Emily Naumotu and Jack Horne.
This is the first real step towards defending our title of top NZ Wrestling School we won at the National Champs last year.
Friday 24th the team competes against some tougher competition at the Auckland Championships which will give them a better gauge as to where they stand. In preparation for that, five of the team competed at the Hamilton Champs on Sunday 19th March. They all got some tough matches but Daniel Lipsham and Lugun Waters managed to come first in their categories.
Training every Wednesday after school, new members always welcome.
