Auckland Secondary Schools Senior Volleyball Championships
Wednesday 6th April to Friday 8 April, our Senior Boys and Girls Volleyball teams competed at this year’s Auckland Secondary School Senior Volleyball Championships held at Bruce Pulman Arena in Takanini. Our teams were both participating in Division 2 of this tournament. Navigating our way through pool play, and then playoffs, our teams had six games in total for our girls and five for our boys. All these games were an experience and close scoring affairs with our students competing to the last points in all of the matches. For our teams, the tournament started slow but finished with success. Wins in the final games against Albany Senior High for our Boys, and St Kentigern’s for our girls, ensured the memories from the event were positive and happy. With both teams made up of mostly Year 12 students, we definitely will be better for the experiences and the successes both individually and as teams. Coach Matai’a and Coach Iosefo led our boys and girls ably. We thank both these gentleman for their energy and commitment to enabling our students to once again share a tournament experience that has been missed throughout the “Covid” period. We should acknowledge the wonderful efforts of the staff at College Sport Auckland to find solutions to hold this tournament. For some schools/teams the schedule may have affected performance, but for our students the condensed format allowed us to rectify mistakes in one match to positives in the next. We look forward to the benefits of this year’s efforts, turning in to even better results next year. |
