SUESSICAL THE MUSICAL – Junior Production

We are looking for year 9 and 10’s who are wanting to be part of something AWESOME during WIDER LIVING WEEK.  SUESSICAL THE MUSICAL is a Production based around the writings of the  AMAZING DR SUESS.

If you can act, sing, dance, wanting to be part of the set design, backstage crew, lighting or costume design….WE WANT YOU!!!!

Come along for a meeting NEXT WEEK IN ROOM 85 TUESDAY, 27 AUGUST at Morning tea to get more information.

LEARNER DRIVING LICENCE COURSE – FREE (October School Holidays)

The next Learner Licence Course will be run over 2 days during the October School Holidays on Monday, 31 September – Tuesday, 1 October from 9am to 3pm at Rutherford College.

If you are age 16+ (or turning 16 shortly) and are interested in attending, please see Miss Ryan in the Careers Department this week to secure a place. We have 30 places available.

Rugby

If you are interested in playing rugby please come down to the sports office to sign up.
This is open for everyone. There are options of making 10 aside teams for Senior Boys, U15 boys and Open girls or 7 aside for U15 boys and girls and Senior Boys and Girls.
Competitions will begin in September on Friday evenings and a tournament in October.

Group Photos

If you are in a cultural or sports group this year, you will receive a shoot key from your tutor teacher. Photos can only be ordered online from photolife.co.nz.  To qualify for free delivery please order before the end of the month.
Your photo will be delivered to the school and handed to you by your tutor teacher next month.

CABINETMAKER APPRENTICESHIPS AVAILABLE – West Auckland

These are full time positions. You will need good communication and math skills, be reliable, punctual and physically fit. Full training will be given and apprenticeships will be offered to the right people.

The Junior Speech Competition is coming up on Sept 11th. Yr. 9 and 10 students can talk to their English teacher about entering the competition, or come see Ms SK in B6.
The Yr. 9 and 10 trophies are up for grabs as well as the opportunity to work towards Kotuku badges.

Cultural Committee Applications for 2020

All year 10-12 students have the opportunity to apply to be a part of the Cultural committee for 2020.  This role gives you an opportunity to develop your leadership skills, personal responsibility and increases your awareness of the ‘culture’ of the school.

Applications available at reception.  Due by the Friday, 30 August 2019.

Youth Cyber Zone Applications 2020

The YCZ team is opening up the 2020 recruitment applications! If you’re a passionate student wanting to be part of a team that addresses bullying and online harm, by providing peer support and creating pro-social initiatives, you are the perfect person to apply!

Commitments include attending weekly meetings regularly and actively participating during the meetings.

Professional training (compulsory for new YCZ members) will take place on the first week of September (around Week 7) on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 12.30 to 4.30pm.

Application forms available at Reception. Completed application forms to be given to Ms Power by Friday, 23 August.

Non Comp Kapa Haka Practice

Anyone interested in learning Waiata and Haka please come to the Marae every Tuesday lunchtime till the end of the year.

2019 Student Representative Election for the Board of Trustees

Nominations are invited for the election of one student representative to the board of trustees.

A nomination form has been distributed to all eligible voters on the student roll through your tutor classes. Further nomination forms can be obtained from the school office.

Nominations are to be handed in to the school office and must be received by noon on Friday, 30 August 2019. A candidate statement and photo may be emailed to haler@rutherford.school.nz.

The voting roll is open for inspection at the school and can be viewed during the hours the office is open.

There will also be a list of candidates names for inspection, as they come to hand, in the Daily Panui.

Voting will happen at Tutor Time on Friday, 13 September.
