Daniel makes the NZ Wrestling Team
We are thrilled to share the news that Daniel Lipsham has made it to the New Zealand National wrestling team that will be competing in the Oceania Championships being held in Sydney in August! This is truly a remarkable achievement and testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion that Daniel has for his sport.
Daniel started his wrestling journey at Rutherford College under the watchful eye of Coach Amir Bahrami. Amir provided Daniel with the necessary training and support from which Daniel’s technique and confidence improved. Amir’s mentorship has instilled discipline and dedication in Daniel, helping achieve significant progress.
Daniel is an exceptional wrestler who currently wrestles for Club Physical and represents our school at various competitions. Daniel has shown time and time again that he has what it takes to be a champion. His grit, tenacity, and determination has been evident when Daniel took gold in the 100kg Secondary Schools tournament, Gold in the New Zealand National tournament and Gold and Silver in the interclub tournaments in 2022. It is no surprise to us that he has secured a place in the national team.
We know that competing on an international stage can be a daunting experience, but we have no doubt that Daniel is more than capable of rising to the occasion.
So, on behalf of the entire school, we would like to extend our congratulations to Daniel. We are incredibly proud of your achievement and wish you all the best as you prepare to represent your country in Sydney. We know that you will make us all proud!
