Get 2 Go Junior Challenge
Thursday, 8 August was a fun day for two Rutherford Teams competing in the Get 2 Go Junior Challenge. Two teams of 8, a Year 9 girls team and a Year 10 girls team set off with their bikes and togs ready for various surprise tasks for the day ahead. The weather held out for most of the day with sunshine in the morning and some rain in the afternoon.
The day began in Milford on the North Shore where the students carried out a team building exercise, involving blind folds, piggy backs, mud and Jenga blocks, and then paddle board racing, the pair relays was definitely the most entertaining. The next tasks took the students out to Western Springs and the Zoo for orienteering around the gardens. The challenge was to get as many markers and bonus points in a set time and all return as a team. Last up was mountain biking, nearly one of the most challenging with the muddy terrain after all the rain. Each team had to do as many laps around the trail as possible in 30 minutes. Some tree collisions and lots of mud for this one!
Overall the students really enjoyed the day out. They came back well exercised, muddy and showed great team work.
