As well as playing with the West City Concert Band, James competed in the solo part of the competition with a solo on his Bass Trombone and received a Gold Award.

He performed a piece called Trilogy for Bass Trombone which he also played for his NCEA Level 2 Solo Performance assessment earlier this year.

An excellence achievement for this amazingly talented young musician. Well done James!
