ISPS HANDA Halberg Awards

On Thursday, 21 February, four of our top sporting students, Harrison Chapman, T.J Devery, Mollie Tagaloa and Abby Ferrall were given the opportunity to represent Rutherford College at the Halberg Awards.

The intention behind the involvement with Halberg is to develop a strong, mutually beneficial relationship between the Foundation and Rutherford College in 2019.

The Halberg Awards is a set of awards given annually, recognising New Zealand’s highest profile athletes and sports personalities, politicians and sports media.

Our school along with five other schools were chosen to usher guests to their seats and sell raffle tickets throughout the night, to raise money for the Halberg Foundation. We were then allocated a table to enjoy dinner and watch the awards.

This foundation strives to enhance the lives of physically disabled kiwis by enabling them to participate in sport and recreation.

It was a very enjoyable evening where we were able to meet and interact with some of New Zealand’s top sporting athletes and watch the award ceremony. We are all very grateful for this opportunity and will continue to support the Halberg Foundation in future times.
