The weather overhead was threatening throughout the day, but ultimately no precipitation and very warm. This made for a pleasant day for our Junior Boys and Girls teams competing at the Junior Zone Tournament held at Hato Petera College fields.

The day was colourful and entertaining with some real athletes from all the schools on show. A number of very good tries were scored for and against our teams. The skills and knowledge of the game definitely got better as the day progressed, even though it was a very demanding day. Our teams navigated their way through their respective draws. Our boys finishing their day with a 2-3 record and just outside the Top 6 playoffs. Our girls had a more challenging time with their various oppositions in the four games they played. They certainly showed a lot of character in all their performances.

Thank you to all the coaches (Mollie, Malissa, Brodie and Sebastyan) and managers (Jenny Wilson and Debbie Power) for making it a successful day overall.

The old cliché’ – “Sport was the winner on the day” rings true at this time of year and in these times. A lot of smiling faces from students and supporters was awesome to see.
