This year’s Kapa Haka campaign went by very quickly, six weeks felt like three. We started by having two full-day practices to get us started on learning words and actions, and then five full wanaga weekends (a live in at school to learn the bracket), and it finished at such a high point for us.
Everyone was successful in their own way, and even more successful as a group. We placed fourth out of 14 schools in the top divisions, which is one of the highest rankings Rutherford College has reached in the past five years. I am so proud of each and every one of my roopu and how far we have come.
Thank you to Matua Jeff who has been teaching us and giving us so much wisdom and mana for the stage, we can’t thank you enough. A huge mihi out to everyone that has supported us throughout this campaign!
We can’t wait to smash the stage again for nationals and make the school, our friends, family and our tupuna proud!
