Level One Geography Muriwai Trip

Level One Geography embarked on a  field trip to Muriwai Beach on Monday, 6 August. The purpose of the trip was to observe the impacts that vehicles are having on both the natural and cultural environment at Muriwai Beach.

The trip links to the students current internal assessment, in which they analyse a contemporary geographic issue. We were lucky enough to see a number of vehicles driving on the beach. Students could clearly see how these vehicles damage the dunes and the impact this has on the entire Muriwai natural environment.

The trip was a successful outdoor learning experience, with students not only gathering evidence for their internal assessment but also developing an understanding of how important and vulnerable our natural environment is and how everything possible must be done to protect it.
