Level One Geography Rotorua Trip

The inaugural Level One Geography trip to Rotorua was a huge success!

On Thursday, 28 March and Friday, 29 March,  Year 11 Geography students visited the Buried Village to experience the huge social impact of the 1886 Tarawera eruption and actually realised the extent of damage the eruption created. This was followed by a once in a life trip up to Mount Tarawera.

The 4-wheel drive roller coaster up the mountain was exciting enough but this was outdone by an exhilarating tramp around the Tarawera crater culminating in a run down the scoria slopes into the crater itself. The trip was incredibly beneficial in allowing students the opportunity to actually see what they have studied in class.
