Māori Documentaries in the City

The year 12 Te Reo Māori Class were invited to watch two Māori documenatries at the Q Theatre in downtown Auckland.

The first documentary was about Te rōpū o te matakite who had marched to Parliament in 1975 from Northland to Wellington who were vehemently opposed to any further loss of their ancestral land.

The second documentary was Bastion Point Day 507. It was a moving and powerful local documentary which showed protesters occupying Bastion Point or Takaparawhau who were evicted by police and armed forces, ending an occupation that had lasted 506 days.

E ngā rangatira kua wehe atu ki te pō, moe mai, moe mai, moe mai rā.
