Most Outstanding Adult Learner Award for 2018 – Marwa Omar 13RD

Congratulations to Marwa Omar 13RD who has won the West Auckland Most Outstanding Adult Learner Award for 2018. Marwa was one of eleven students nominated this year from different Adult Education Providers. The learner awards were presented by Deborah Russell, MP for New Lynn at the Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre on Saturday 1st September.
Marwa arrived from Afghanistan late last year. She enrolled as an adult student at the start of the year so she could improve her English and further her educational dreams of helping people. Marwa has an interest in the Health sector and hopes that in two years she will have enough NCEA credits to enrol at University.
Marwa has also achieved her food and hygiene certificate through community education classes, she has her learner licence and has obtained a part-time job at St Margaret’s Hospital.
She has enriched us with her thirst for learning in all aspects of her life in order to embrace a new beginning in NZ for herself and her family. Marwa sets clear goals for herself and is an excellent role model as she is motivated, enthusiastic and is determined to succeed. She has touched many peoples’ hearts in such a short time with her caring nature and for making the most of opportunities.
