North Western Cross Country Zones
On Tuesday, 14 May eight Rutherford students represented the school in the North Western Cross Country Zones.
This event was held at Moire Park, it was a great course without too much mud on the day. First up to run was Emma Chapman in the Junior girl’s race. This was 3km with a large field of up to 70 competitors and Emma had a great race finishing within the top half of the field.
Next up to take to the starting line was the Junior boys with Jesse Schwalger, Devon Greentree and Luke Pope racing. The boys started strong over the 4km course. This was the biggest race of the day with up to 100 competitors. The boys pushed through and worked well as a team finishing within a couple of places of each other.
The intermediate girls completed the same course along with the senior girls. We had Isla Annan and Casey Boyce running in this race and they both had a strong race pushing through the long course to have a strong finish. The intermediate boys increased the distance some more with Dylan Spraggs running 5km and a had great race finishing in the top half of the field as well.
Last but not least was Harrison Chapman running the senior boys in the 6km course. This was a field full with well-trained cross country runners, Harrison ran a great race over this long distance and had a strong finish.
It was a great day and well done to all the Rutherford students on their great running.
