NZDF Engineering, Science and Technology Conference

An early start saw us arrive at school just after 7:00am on Tuesday, 28 August so we would make it to North Harbour Stadium for an 8:00am start.

There was time for a free coffee and a quick look through the Tech Zone before heading into the first presentation. The morning session was focused on the diversification of the workforce and harnessing and development of talent, especially ensuring more young women consider careers in the Science, Technology and Engineering sectors. Morning tea gave us the opportunity to test some of the state of the art technologies on display, with the virtual and augmented reality providing the most enjoyment.

The second session of presentations focused on the exciting new technologies available, and how their applications could benefit us all. This was capped off with an introduction to the theory of quantum computing and artificial intelligence.

Overall this was a thoroughly enjoyable morning, and opened our eyes to new technologies and their uses.
