Petanque Tournament

On Friday, 17 May nine students went to the lovely location of Herne Bay to represent Rutherford College in the Petanque tournament.

These students made up 3 teams that carried out 5 rounds of petanque against various schools throughout Auckland. They were up against some tough competition and it involved a lot of skill and technique, the volunteers on the day helped coach the children the various methods of the game.

At the end of the day after the 5 rounds, there was a prizegiving where the top three teams were presented with medals and the winning team the cup, the Rutherford students improved throughout the day but unfortunately didn’t make it into the top 3 out of the 28 teams participating.

The students really enjoyed the day and came away with new knowledge.
