GoodSpace Student Wellbeing Survey
Rutherford is using a web-based tool with students to survey them about their wellbeing. This tool is called GoodSpace. It takes less than 10 minutes for students to answer health and wellbeing questions. The survey is used by the Student Services team (i.e the counsellors and the school nurse) to ensure we are offering support to students as needed. This is a part of our wellbeing plan to protect and enhance the hauora of our rangatahi.
In 2023 we will be surveying all year 10 and year 12 students. If you do not wish your child to do this survey, please email their tutor teacher asking them to be excluded from the survey as soon as possible.
Progress Reports
Progress Reports for term 2 will be available on the School Portal today. Log in to the Portal and click on Reports to view the latest progress for your son or daughter. If you are having trouble logging in please read these instructions to help you out. NCEA summaries for Years 11 – 13 will also be available for you to view today.
PPTA Industrial Action
A reminder that industrial action and rostering home is suspended until Wednesday 31 May. The purpose of the suspension of strike action is to allow the Ministry of Education to work with urgency to explore options for revised offers.
Unless we hear otherwise, PPTA strike action will resume on Thursday 01 June.
If the action proceeds, the following year levels will be rostered home:
Thursday 01 June – Year 12 rostered home
Tuesday 06 June – Year 10 rostered home
Thursday 08 June – Year 9 rostered home
Please remember that if you want your son or daughter to attend on any of the days they are rostered home you can register their name here. Students will be supervised if they attend, there will be no structured lessons.
We will keep you informed if we hear that the strike action is discontinued via our alert messages and through this panui. Please make sure you download the SchoolBridge App to receive alert messages to your phone.
Attendance
Te manu e kai ana i te miro, nōna te ngahere; te manu e kai ana i te mātauranga nōna te ao
The bird who partakes of the miro berry owns the forest; the bird who partakes of education owns the world
Attendance at school is key to success. Every Monday you will receive an email with information about your child’s attendance. Feel free to contact your child’s tutor teacher or dean with any concerns.
Congratulations to Stirling Quach
A big congratulations to Stirling Quach in Year 10 who will be representing New Zealand at the World Hip Hop Championships in Arizona later this year. This is a great achievement and an exciting opportunity for him to experience top tier competition. We look forward to hearing how he progresses and some of the highlights from his trip.
International Cultural/Languages Week
June 8 our international languages department will be hosting an International Cultural Evening in the School Hall from 6pm – 8.30pm. You and your whanau are invited along to sample some food from around the world. Other events like cultural performances, arts and crafts and games will be on the agenda. We look forward to seeing you all there. It will be a fun evening for all.
School Uniform
Due to the recent wet weather events our supplier of school uniform has advised that they currently have no stock of the Rutherford College jersey. Their machinery was damaged in the flooding and they are experiencing delays in replacement machinery or repairs to their machines. If your son or daughter does not have a Rutherford College jersey, they can wear a dark blue jumper/sweatshirt in the interim until stocks are once again available. Please remember that we do expect students to be wearing the correct uniform in all other regards and any item they wear under their uniform to keep them warm, should not be visible. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this with your son or daughter. Here is the link to our school uniform policy.
