After a lot of interest was shown this year, we ended up with a team of 5 very enthusiastic and dedicated readers. Over the term they each read the 6 selected books, while meeting twice a week to test their recall knowledge of each book.
On Wednesday night the 22nd of June our team, which consisted of Max RobbMarkham, Sophie Yorke, Harrison Robb, Matthew Wilson and Aiden Maslen arrived at Rangitoto College ready to take on 9 other schools in the North West Reader’s Cup challenge.
The questions were rather more difficult this year than previous years, but our team did Rutherford proud. They never gave up and at the end of the competition there was only one point separating them from third place.
I would like to thank the students for their commitment to this year’s Reader’s Cup, your efforts are to be applauded. Also, thank you to the parents, and Mrs Fraser (English) for your support on the night. Furthermore, a big thank you to the tutor teachers for excusing the students and allowing them time to prepare for competition.
