Rider Seth Stylianou captures a first in Auckland Schools Under 17 Downhill Mountain Bike Championship
Congratulations to Seth “Stylie” Stylianou for winning the Under 17s Auckland Schools Downhill Championship over the weekend.
The event was held at Seth’s home track up at Dome Valley just north of Warkworth. With 19 riders from all over Auckland signed up for the Under 17’s category, it was going to be a day of calm nerves.
Seth’s first run was fast but he made some mistakes and felt that he probably had not done enough if he wanted to secure the win by the end of the day. Seth’s second race run was unbelievably faster by over 2 1/2 seconds. It was clean and smooth and inside Seth knew he had thrown down a scorching time that would be very hard to beat.
The racing was tight and Seth won by only fractions of a second. What he hadn’t banked on was the fact that he was also the fastest rider of the day! And his day did not finish there. The Whip off comp was held at the end of the day with Seth gaining the loudest cheers from the crowd and thereby crowning him the winner.
What an outstanding result, we are all very proud of you Seth.
