Rudderless bring the trophy home to Rutherford!

On Wednesday 5 September 2018, 12 of Rutherford’s finest young men marched down to the beautiful University of Waikato to take part in the Waikato School Frisbee Championships. After storming a path to the finals including a 13-0 quarter-final win over Katikati College Senior’s, they met Hamilton Boys High School in the final. After a tight first half, ‘Rudderless’ came out on top 8-3.

A proud performance from the school’s newest premier team. Our team showed resilience as a team with little to no Ultimate Frisbee background earlier in the year, but with many hours training the stage was set for the team to shine. Caz Chiba was outstanding as a player and sportsman, Curtis Hetherington’s layout for a winning point will be remembered as the play of the day.

Thank you to Mr Carroll, Miss van Dorp and Mr Cartwright for their coaching and commitment. Bring on 2019!
