Each year Rutherford College has the privilege of hosting the Special Olympics. On Tuesday, 23 March we were blessed with a beautiful sunny day, perfect for a day of track and field events.

It was amazing to see students from Arohanui Special School, Waitakere College, Kaipara, and Henderson High School participate.

Our very own students from the Rutherford Turangawaewae unit enjoyed the atmosphere and were so thrilled to have come away with a placing. Second place in the 100m relays!

Many thanks to the Special Olympics organisers and to Gill Bloxham, Dion Nukunuku, and the Rutherford students that helped support the athletes on the day.
