Studio Show

Studio shows held at the school are always a highlight to performers, teachers and the audience.  Term 1 went by quite swiftly, it was an extremely hectic and exhausting term that we all had to face, however, it did end with an incredibly delightful treat, Fanfare our first studio show of the year.

On 11 April 2018, the opening night of our show, we were hit by a spontaneous storm, with a power cut at school. For the first time in 5 years a show was cancelled. The weather pulled through so we could have a show on Thursday and Friday.  This semester’s show was packed full of duets, group and class dances.  Hard work, a mix of emotions, passion and commitment got the dances to the high standard possible on stage.

Performing in the Studio Show is a wonderful feeling, but it surely comes along with some nerves. I can remember the nervousness that I felt while walking onto stage in the pitch black darkness alongside my group. As soon as the lights appeared all the nervousness disappeared and being there, able to feed of each other’s positive energies, was incredible. Dancing up on that stage was amaze-balls. When it’s all over, you’ll want to do it all over again, it’s that great.

The beautiful Studio Show pieces had begun during our class time, and then slowly our intervals, lunch times, and sometimes even after schools were given up for rehearsals. It was draining and it required a lot of hard work, but in the end we all came together as one, making ourselves and our peers proud. It was nice that we were able to end the first term of this school year with an incredibly successful Studio Show.

Thank you to everybody involved in making the show a success: Miss Wilson, Mr Thomson and his technical crew (Samson, Leon and James), Toby, Mrs Chandra and the Cultural committee, Ms Farrar, Mrs Betanzo, Auntie Gail, Mrs Taula and music students and most importantly Miss Exeter as without her there would be no show. We are so lucky to have your as our dance teacher so thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the hard work and drive you put into your passions.  Your dance ethics and discipline helps us become better trained dancers.  Studio show was one of the highlights of the year. The next show will be held August 29-31 in Term 3. We are looking forward to the next one, its going to be a blast, see you there!
