Swimming Champ of Champs

On Wednesday, 3 April we had eight students represent Rutherford in the Swimming Champ of Champs at West Wave Aquatic centre.

These students qualified from the Western Zones Swimming to compete against all the top schools in Auckland which is a great achievement. We had the Junior girls freestyle relay up first for the Rutherford students.

First in the water was Elaina Ellison then Leila Skinner, Piper Black and Emma Chapman. The girls all had a great race finishing 4th in their heat against some tough competition.

Next up the Senior Boys freestyle relay team. These boys had a difficult start with goggles breaking and falling off. First in the water was Eri Reddington followed by Dominik Bonovich, Johnnie Richard-Marsters who helped close the gap after the goggle problems and then finishing strong was Andrew Young.

The students had a fun day out and did Rutherford proud. Well done!
