The 57th Annual Rutherford Memorial Day
On Friday, 23 August we held the 57th Annual Rutherford Memorial Day.
Rutherford Day is celebrated every year to thank the community for their support of our school. We celebrate excellence by showcasing students in action and stimulate the thinking of our senior young people by listening to a speaker with passion and a message.
This year we were honoured to host Mrs Hilary Barry as our Guest Speaker.
Outstanding performances from our KBB Bronze winning Rutherford College Concert Band, our Year 12 and 13 Dance students performed Guardian that was choreographed by two Rutherford College students, Rachel Jeung McIntyre and Sydney Magnus. Rutherford College Kapa Haka group Te Kōtuku performed a moving Haka following Hilary’s address and sung Kōtuku E alongside the Prefects. The ceremony concluded with Kingston Ross, Carson Bull, Areli Tjahjono and Luke Dennerly performing Hey Ya by Outkast.
To express our thanks, we presented Hilary with an exceptional piece of original artwork by Year 10 student Ngaire Moore.
Thank you to all our guests for attending this special day with us. Thank you to our staff and students that worked hard to bring it together.
