U15 7s Tournament

It was a day of sunshine, sweat and sensational tries at the Waitemata Rugby Club on Wednesday, 31 October for the under 15 7s tournament. Mr Nola and Mr Doak took 13 boys to the tournament where they were to play four schools (Aoere, Selwyn, Green Bay and Otahuhu).

First up was Aoere. We had some good structures in place on offence but our defense was lacking. We scored a couple tries but let trough too many on our end for a loss.

Next up was Selwyn. After talking some tactics on defense, we were able to prevent too many tries from going over which proved to be the difference. We were able to walk away with our first win.

Green Bay came up against a newly revitalised Rutherford side, and we were able to keep them scoreless while we ran over multiple tries for our most dominant performance.

Last up was Otahuhu. We knew they had won all their previous games so there was no room for complacency. At the beginning we were evenly matched, neither team making any progress. What felt like seconds later, we ran over a corner try under pressure. Second half saw a yellow card for Rutherford gifting Otahuhu an easy try. Then a yellow for the opposition for a illegal tackle. This enabled us to strike again for a run-over try. Unfortunately Otahuhu were able to take advantage of a positioning mistake to gain another try and the win with the conversion. What a game!

End result was 2 wins out of 4 and some huge grins on our boys faces. We represented the Kotuku with pride!
