Wahine Toa Girls Wrestling
60 girls from Te Atatu Intermediate and Rutherford College combined for a joint two-hour wrestling training session in the college gym.
Training was led by Ruth Minturn, Ana Moceyawa and Michelle Montague who have all represented New Zealand in a variety of martial arts.
The wrestlers learned some basic techniques and then got stuck into some spirited sparring matches. The Te Atatu girls were mainly from the TAI wrestling team while the college girls were made up of members from the netball and rugby squads.
Te Atatu Intermediate has been training every Wednesday at the College with coach Amir and the college team trains Wednesday after school.
