Waitakere Composite Cricket Team

Over the last few weeks, we have had a group of boys involved in a Waitakere Composite Cricket team. As we have not had sufficient numbers to enter our own Rutherford College team this season, these boys have taken the opportunity to gel with a few others from Waitakere and Liston to compete in the Junior A T20 Central / West competition.

Playing under the coaching of Ben Brain’s father Philip throughout this Term 4 season, the team has performed very well, finishing with a 2 – 2 record. The wins have been emphatic, and the losses have been very competitive with one against Avondale coming down to the second last ball of the match.

Highlights for the season are as follows:
– v Auckland Grammar – Frankie Davis-Barr 32 runs and a brilliant stumping as wicket keeper; Ben Brain 1 wicket for 3 runs off 4 overs
– v Westlake – Josh Hewson 37 not out
– v Mt Roskill – Josh Hewson 58 not out
– v Avondale – Kieran Alker 49 off 21 balls

Thank you to Philip for taking our boys this year.
This has put our school in a better position to create a stand-alone Rutherford College Cricket team for Term 1 2021.

We look forward to more boys and girls interested for Term 1, as we do want to have teams of our own competing next term. Please watch out for sign-ups as the season starts not long after school starts back, so we need to be ready to play.
