Year 10 Maritime Museum Trip

On Wednesday, 6 October 10SC and 10Sk visited the Maritime Museum of Auckland. They engaged in a talk about migrants to Aotearoa/New Zealand by Pacific peoples and Tauiwi European migrants.

Students got a guided tour of the museum from staff, and also had a look around on their own. They were able to sail on one of the Museum’s ships, and raised the sails themselves!

The weather was stunning for a day on the harbour and all student thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Following this, we departed for Bastion Point where students enjoyed a brief recount of events surrounding the 1977-78 land protest there. Students ate their lunch in the sun and we took the bus back to school.

A great time was had by all and the students behaved and represented Rutherford with pride.
