Year 13 Travel and Tourism Trip
On Tuesday, 10 March we headed out on our first trip for the year, the stormy skies opened up, making it far from perfect conditions to venture out as tourists. Our first stop was a walk up to North Head to experience some historic tourism and take in the panoramic 360° views of Waitematā Harbour, Rangitoto and the CBD. Here, we had the chance to check out the old observation posts, gun emplacements and tunnels. Next up, was a stroll around the quaint Devonport Village then a 15-minute ferry ride across to Downtown Auckland.
Initially, we had planned to experience a bit of adventure tourism, riding on the Adventure Jetboat. However, due to the weather conditions out on the harbour, this was cancelled. Luckily, we had a contingency plan, so off we went to explore the Maritime Museum.
While our trip didn’t go quite as planned, we’ll make sure the jet boat ride is on the itinerary for our next trip, later in the year.
