Te Atatū Bus Interchange

Information for Students Taking Routes 13 & 135 from Stop E Te Atatū Bus Interchange

Thank you to those students and their families for contributing their feedback to Auckland Transport, regarding the bus stop shelter at Stop E Te Atatū Bus Interchange. It has been known that during the afternoon, when the sun is setting to the West, intense light and heat are emitted onto the Stop E bus stop, given how it faces West.

Te Atatu Bus Interchange

About one year ago, in early 2025, Auckland Transport undertook works to upgrade the Stop E bus stop shelter, where contractors added extra panels to reduce the amount of sun exposure that patrons were put under when under the shelter. However, despite continued concerns raised by those from the school, Auckland Transport states that there is little they can do to remediate or eliminate this issue, due to the size constraints of that bus stop (along with others at that interchange).

In the long term, once plans are approved for the ‘Te Ara Hauāuru - Northwest Busway’ project (led by NZTA Waka Kotahi), persons taking buses in this area can expect to see improved transport facilities (including a reduction in sun exposure), on top of a change from an interchange to a bus station with dedicated busway roads.

For now, Auckland Transport thanks you for your patience during this time and looks forward to upgrading your local bus service infrastructure in the coming years.
