Studio Show 2026

Studio Show 2026

Studio Show is an annual performance held in our School Hall

Studio Show is an annual performance held in our school hall, where dancers from all year levels at Rutherford come together to showcase their hard work, dedication, and talent. The performances feature mainly student choreography and collaborative projects from Year 10 to Year 13 students, showcasing a range of styles from contemporary dance to many other genres.

Some performances are taught by external  tutors, including our Year 11 Jazz and Year 12 African Dance pieces. Studio Show is also an assessed performance under NCEA standards, encouraging dancers to perform with confidence and express their individuality to the fullest.

I have been a part of studio show for four years now, and it's always been the show I most look forward to every year. I love learning all kinds of dances and new skills, and this year I was fortunate enough to be able to be a part of three dances; collaborative choreography with some of my classmates, class dance where we explored the skill of performing and also the year 12 African dance. It was especially meaningful to  express my love for African dancing again after being part of the Rutherford African group and to have participated at Polyfest for  three years.

What I love about Rutherford College Studio Show is that it always feels like a big family. The support from our teacher, Ms Fahitua, the encouragement we give to one another, and the support from our community always leaves me feeling incredibly proud. I have experienced this event as a junior and I know how much I looked up to the seniors, this time round it felt very full circle and special to be that senior role model that I once looked up to a couple of years ago.

I am walking away from my last school Studio Show feeling so much gratitude and love. I hope all who came to support enjoyed the show and all other performers, I hope you know just how talented you are.
