On Wednesday evening, 24 June, a team of five Year 9 students proudly represented Rutherford College at the Readers Cup competition, held at Te Manawa in Westgate. Our Readers Cup team consisted of:
Elliana Chong
Kiyona Frampton
Kaelyn Laing-Smith
Melanie Pang
Kelly Yang
To prepare for the competition, each team member read six selected books over a 12-week period. Their dedication and commitment to reading ensured they were well prepared for the challenge ahead.
The competition featured six quiz rounds, with approximately eight questions in each round, testing students' knowledge of the books in detail. The event required not only a strong understanding of the texts but also excellent teamwork as students worked together to answer each question.
We are delighted to share that our team placed 2nd overall—an outstanding achievement and a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and love of reading. They represented Rutherford College with pride and were excellent ambassadors for our school.
A heartfelt thank you to our Readers Cup team for their dedication and commitment, and to the parents and whānau who came along to support them on the night. Your encouragement and support helped make the evening a memorable and successful experience.
Congratulations to Elliana, Kiyona, Kaelyn, Melanie, and Kelly on this fantastic achievement.
We are incredibly proud of you! 🎉
