Community education - Pacific Cultures Explored Through Language and Cooking Workshops

Community education - Pacific Cultures Explored Through Language and Cooking Workshops

This term we celebrated the completion of our second cohort in Māori, Cook Islands Māori, and Gagana Samoa Language Programmes

This term, we celebrated the completion of our second cohort in Māori, Cook Islands Māori, and Gagana Samoa language programmes. Both graduation ceremonies were filled with a strong sense of joy, pride, and achievement as students marked the end of their learning journeys.

Many students have chosen to continue exploring Pacific cultures beyond the classroom. They took part in our recent Samoan cooking workshop, where they learned to prepare authentic dishes and gained practical skills to recreate these recipes at home with their families - Ulo lu'au, Fa'alifu Talo and Koko Samoa.

Looking ahead, we are excited to host our upcoming Cook Islands Māori cooking evening next week, on 30th of June, from 06:30 pm to 08;30 pm. There are still a few spaces available for those interested in joining this enriching cultural experience: www.rutherfordcomed.co.nz
