Community Education - Open Evening

Community Education - Open Evening

On 9 September We proudly hosted Our Second Annual Open Evening

On 9 September, we proudly hosted our second annual Open Evening, bringing together learners, tutors, and community members for an inspiring and memorable event. Attendees had the opportunity to meet our passionate tutors and team, network with fellow community members, and enjoy an engaging kōrero from our guest speaker, Gary Moore, the Principal of Rutherford College.

A highlight of the evening was the celebration of learner's achievements. Four adult students were presented with Outstanding Adult Learner Awards in recognition of their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to their learning journeys.

We also recognised the remarkable contributions of our teaching staff. Ms Cathy Gillies, tutor of our Sewing Workshops, received the Tutor of the Year Award, while 43 tutors were honoured with Outstanding Tutor Awards for their outstanding dedication and contribution to adult education.

Guests also enjoyed a complimentary Floral Art workshop, where participants had the opportunity to explore fresh flower arrangements and create their own beautiful floral designs.

The evening concluded with an exciting announcement: the opening of our first Satellite Centre in 2027. Hosted by  Apopo Studios in Manurewa, this new centre will expand learning opportunities and strengthen our connection with the local community.

We would like to thank ACE Aotearoa  for providing funding that helped make the evening such a great success. Their support enabled us to create a memorable and engaging event for our community.
