Aquathon Championships

Rutherford students compete in the Aquathon Championships

On Tuesday the 24th of February, five of our students represented Rutherford College at the annual Aquathon Championships hosted at St Kentigern's College.

With strong competition and great weather conditions, the event proved to be an exciting experience for everyone involved.

An aquathon is a continuous multi-sport race that begins with a swim and transitions straight into a run. The 750m swim tested athletes’ endurance and pacing in the water, while the 5km run required determination and mental toughness.

This year, we had two teams and one individual competitor take on the challenge. Amy Thompson and Emma Tatt formed a U19 girls’ team, Jackson Muller and Tiaki Bullen formed a U19 boys’ team and Cameron Deo competed in the U19 individual’s category.

In the team event, one athlete completed the swim while their teammate tackled the 5km run, relying on teamwork and smooth transitions. Our individual competitor completed both legs of the race independently. All five students showed perseverance throughout the event. Whether competing as part of a team or individually, each athlete gave their very best effort and supported one another from start to finish.

We congratulate our aquathon competitors on their hard work and courage in stepping up to the challenge. We look forward to seeing even more students get involved in future multi-sport events!
