“I’m a student. I know what students need.” I’m not going to give you the whole “I’m a passionate and hardworking leader” speech. You’ve heard that before. We’re already tired enough from early mornings, classes, assessments and homework that never seems to end. We shouldn’t also have to feel like nobody is listening to us. I want to be your Student Representative because I want the student side to actually have a say in the decisions that affect us. Whether it’s more affordable tuckshop prices, better events, more opportunities, or the little things that could make school life easier, I want to bring those issues forward. I want to turn what students actually care about into real conversations at the Board. I’ll listen to your ideas, speak up for them, and make sure the student voice is taken seriously, not just heard and forgotten. The Board already has adults speaking for the school. I want to make sure someone is speaking for us. |
My name is Sebastian Li, I am a Year 9 student running for Board Student Representative because I believe our voices deserve a say in how our school runs and the decisions made to support our education. As students, we are the reason this place exists, yet decisions impacting our daily lives—from facilities to academic policies—are often made without our direct opinion. If elected, my primary goal is to change that. I will be a dedicated candidate for your concerns, ensuring the Board understands everyone's unique needs and perspectives. I am committed to fighting for clear communication and a more inclusive environment where everyone feels heard and supported. Playing the Pokémon Trading Card Game at a professional level for 4 years has taught me how to communicate effectively within large groups, and it means I am never afraid to speak up to adults in most situations. I am so excited to run for the position of Student Representative on our school’s Board of Trustees. Coming from someone deeply involved in sports, cultural groups and leadership roles I believe I have the experience and passion to be the voice of our students. My ideal commitment to this role would be making sure every student’s voice is heard. Whether you have academic concerns, extracurricular activities, or any other issues, I will be the representative. I will actively be searching for input, and bring questions, ideas and statements to the board. I want to be a student trustee because i think students should be able to share their opinions with how the school runs or any changed people are planning to make Although i know that adults may have good ideas in theory the ideas don’t always work how they hoped so having someone like me who isnt afraid to be bluntly honest could help
