MOTAT STEM Expo

MOTAT STEM Expo

On Thursday 7 November, a group of Year 9 and 10 students were invited to attend a trip to the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM for short) Expo at MOTAT. The purpose of this trip was to introduce students to cutting edge technology firms, open up a range of opportunities for possible careers, and provide learning opportunities in the world of STEM.

The day included interactive exhibits, such as flying drones, VR simulations for water engineering, and building a bridge to walk across. It was an overall positive experience, with professionals to guide us along the way. Some other activities were exploring energy and light-related activities, which were also interactive. It was also fun to visit different stalls at the Expo operated by school engagement officers from different universities, engineering firms and museum staff to get a taste of what careers might look like in STEM.

At the end of the trip, we went on a quick tram ride to the aviation hall and back. Overall this was an enjoyable and eye-opening trip, and we look forward to further opportunities that allow us to open up our future in STEM-related fields.

Thank you to Mr Tagaloa, Mr Place and Ms Ballantyne for organising this event for us to attend.
