Charlotte Takes on Christchurch

From 14-16 February, Charlotte Marriott attended the NZ Classical Saxophone Summer School in Christchurch. She spent the weekend at the University of Canterbury School of Music where she participated in workshops, masterclasses and group lessons with some of the world’s top classical saxophonists including Mr Nobuya Sugawa from Japan, the Dutch saxophonist Niels Bijl, Michael Jamieson (University of Auckland), and Simon Brew (NZSO).

On the Saturday evening, she competed in the New Zealand Classical Saxophone Solo Competition and was awarded 1st place in the Senior Elementary section for her performance of Handel's 'Alla Siciliana and Giga from Sonata in F'.

The weekend concluded with the Saxophone orchestra giving a public performance at Tūranga.
