Luv Music 2025 Sold-Out Two-Night Show!

Luv Music 2025 Sold-Out Two-Night Show!

Weeks of preparation culminated in a stunning show

The passion, talent, and hard work of senior NCEA music students took centre stage last week as they delivered two unforgettable nights (14th & 15th May) of live performance to a sold-out audience.

Hosted in the school’s hall, the event showcased the diverse musical abilities of Year 11, 12 and 13 students, all of whom completed an ensemble skills based performance assessment.

Weeks of preparation culminated in a stunning show from intricate piano duets and soulful ballads to high-energy rock numbers and original compositions, the program reflected the full spectrum of student creativity and commitment.  The audience—packed with whānau, friends, teachers, and members of the wider community—responded with cheers and emotional applause throughout the two-night run.

Many in attendance commented on the professional quality of the performances and the emotional maturity conveyed through the music.

In celebration of NZ Music Month, Year 13 students performed some of Aotearoa's classics such as "Don't Dream Its Over" by the Crowded House and Supergroove's "Sittin' Inside My Head". We had the pleasure of listening to the soulful "Seven Seas" by new and upcoming Kiwi artist Mahina Lawrence and the uplifting "Feel Alright" by Tomorrow People among other NZ songs.

Standout performances included amazing covers of the Paper Kite's “Willow Tree March” and "Dark Necessities" by Red Hot Chilli Peppers, a smooth and polished rendition of "Is This Love" by Alo Key and an original composition by Sidetracked who competed the following evening at the Smokefree Rockquest.

Thank you to our whanau, friends and wider community for supporting our showcase and congratulations to all our student performers!
