College Sport

On Thursday, November 28, I had the honour of attending the College Sport YSPORTY Awards at Eden Park, an event celebrating the remarkable achievements of top athletes from the region. Representing Rutherford College were Asia Wrigley (10HY) and Noah Godfrey (12AN), both selected as finalists for their outstanding contributions to Ki-o-rahi.

Being nominated as finalists for such a prestigious event is a significant achievement in itself. Although they did not win awards that night, this is still truly commendable.

The evening was made even more special by the performance of Te Rōpū Kapa Haka o Te Kōtuku, who welcomed guests and opened the ceremony with pride and mana. Their captivating performances reflected the esteemed reputation of Rutherford College. To conclude the event, Asia Wrigley had the distinct honour of delivering the closing karakia.

Congratulations to Noah and Asia for their remarkable achievements, and a thank you to our Kapa Haka team for representing our school with such dignity and excellence.

Ngā mihi nui!
